WHY JOIN?

people are looking for art therapists

Many art therapists hide behind other credentials because we worry people aren't out there looking for art therapy...

Well, 200K followers across social media tells me that people are indeed interested in art therapy! They just need more simple ways to find an art therapist they jive with.

This is a place to show up as the full art therapist you are.
Put your name and smile in one more place for people to find you.

It helps to be in the places where people are already looking, and this is one of them.

The directory, with cards and filters
what visitors see

a card that puts you first

Visitors can browse everyone all at once.

Or they take a short quiz and the therapists who are the best fit will be filtered to the top. "Close fits" will also be shown below them.

Each card shows your face first, then what you help with, in your own words. You can choose what to include or not include from the searchable terms and descriptors too.

extra exposure

your headshot on my Instagram

Once a month, I’ll share the headshots of the therapists in the directory on my Instagram.

In the caption, I'll say your name & send people to the directory page to find you (or tag you on instagram too).

It’s one more way for people to see you and find your card with over 200k followers.

why this one

a place built for art therapists

a big general directory
  • Every kind of therapist in one long list
  • Very expensive and little pay off
  • Not detailed enough search function
  • An art therapist can get lost in the scroll
  • People searching may not be looking for art therapy at all
this directory
  • Only art therapists!
  • People come here looking for an art therapist
  • Intentionally inexpensive to join
  • Your headshot on my social media spotlight once a month for extra exposure to the directory
  • Embody your art therapist identity!
how it works

four little steps

01

join

You pay on this page and your setup portal opens straight away.

02

build your card

It only takes one sitting.

But you can save a draft and come back to it.

03

I read it

I read every new card myself and check it before it goes live. If something needs a second look, I send it back with a note.

04

it goes live

After that, changes you make show up right away.

You can edit it anytime.

good to know

what I’m clear about

01

you’re independent

Everyone in the directory is an independent therapist.

You’re not a Discover Art Therapy therapist, listing here doesn’t make us partners, and Discover Art Therapy isn’t responsible for the work you do with clients.

02

what verified means

I read your card, check your photo against your website and what I can find about you online, and ask for your registration number if you have one. If I need to clarify something, I may ask to see your diploma. It isn’t an endorsement, and it doesn’t guarantee your training, registration or insurance.

03

badges are what you tell us

A care badge, like trauma-informed or neurodiversity-affirming, means the therapist says they have that training.
It's up to you to be honest.

I don’t check it, so each badge on a card is the therapist’s own word.

04

your background is yours to share

There’s an optional section for background badges, such as BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent. They show on your card only if you tick them, and you can skip the whole section.

05

client artwork stays out

Please don’t put client art, or anything that could identify a client, on your card.

You are welcome to share images of your own art and studio though!

06

I can’t promise enquiries

The directory is new. I can’t tell you how many people will reach out.

But that's why it's intentionally inexpensive so you can stay while we build traction.

my mission

one more place to be found

Directories can feel like one more thing to pay for, and it’s fair to wonder if one is worth it.

I made this one inexpensive on purpose, so it’s an easy way to get your name out in one more place.

Discover Art Therapy has over 200K followers on social media, and that’s where I’ll be sharing the directory link.

founding membership

choose how you’d like to pay

Your founding price stays the same for as long as you remain a member.
If you cancel and later rejoin, you pay the price that applies then.

If you cancel, or a payment doesn’t go through, your card stays up until the end of the time you’ve already paid for. After that it’s hidden, not deleted. If you come back, so does your card.

hey, i’m ashleigh!

I’m a Canadian art therapist and the founder of Discover Art Therapy. I’m a professional member of the Canadian Art Therapy Association, a graduate of the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute, and a former instructor and clinical placement coordinator there. My work has reached people in more than 57 countries because of social media, the power the internet is important to harness when we are trying to share art therapy! This is a great place to start.
