The Circle: Creative Self Care

Date: Saturday August 30, 2025

Time: 7AM HST | 10 AM PT | 1PM ET | 6PM BST

REPLAY: included!

A nourishing art experience to reconnect with yourself and let creativity support your ongoing self care.

This month inside The Circle, we’ll gather around the theme of Creative Self Care. Together, we’ll use art as a gentle reminder that care for ourselves can take many forms—playful, colorful, restorative, and expressive. Through simple and gentle guided art invitations, you’ll be invited to create a visual expression of what self care means to you right now, and explore what you need.

No previous art experience or skill is needed. This is not about making something “pretty” or “perfect,” but about giving yourself permission to slow down, listen inwardly, and let art become a container for your self-kindness.

Optional Art Supplies:

There is nothing specifically "required", but you may feel excited to prepare some of the following:

  • Paper or sketchbook

  • Any art materials you enjoy such as markers, pencil crayons, or pastels. Watercolour, stickers, stamps.

  • Glue sticks, scissors, glitter.

  • Magazines/images/words for collage, or even paint.

  • Journal + pen for reflection writing.

What does a session of The Circle feel like?

Community connection — a supportive group of people who value creativity, reflection, and respect for one another
Gentle guidance — art invitations that meet you where you are, with no pressure or expectations
Nourishing — dedicated time to replenish and restore, while honouring your own boundaries
Playful & open — space to experiment with materials freely, knowing all expressions are welcome
Optional sharing — you choose whether to share or simply witness; confidentiality and safety are respected
Insightful — your art becomes a mirror, offering personal meaning while keeping the space inclusive and non-judgmental

What is Therapeutic Art?

Therapeutic art is different from an art class. There are no lessons on technique and no pressure to make something “good.” Instead, the focus is on the process—what happens while you create—rather than the finished piece. Your colors, textures, and images become a mirror for self-discovery, and with gentle guidance from a professional Canadian art therapist, you’ll be supported to explore safely and creatively.

Reminder: This is an online, community based, therapeutic art experience. It is not clinical therapy, group therapy nor mental health treatment. While it is led by a professional Canadian art therapist, participation does not establish a therapist-client relationship. Please take responsibility for your own wellbeing as you engage in this experience. If you require clinical mental health support, you are encouraged to seek personal guidance from a licensed mental health professional in your area.
